75 Healthy Kid-Friendly Snacks
Today I have a boatload of recipes for healthy kid-friendly snacks, which remind me: have you been following the drama between the FDA and Kind bars? The FDA is re-evaluating its definition of what counts as a “healthy” food, because healthy fats—such as the fats found in nuts and avocado—are increasingly recognized as part of a nutritious diet. The change was precipitated in part by the push-back when the FDA attempted to censor the Kind bars “healthy and tasty” tagline (the company helped launch a citizens’ petition requesting that the FDA re-evaluate the current low-fat definition of healthy).
Anyway, the drama crossed my mind regarding the title of this post. While the definition of “healthy” may be a moving target, these healthy kid-friendly snacks earn their name because most are low in sugar (aside from fruit), some are packed with protein, and others feature healthy fats from the aforementioned nuts and avocado as well as pastured meat. Enjoy these healthy kid-friendly snacks divided into categories according to their primary designation: Meaty, “Chips” & “Fries”, Gummies, Veggies, Fruity & Nutty. Bon appetite!
